Fan game of RockmanDASH, my favorite games in the series.

All hand drawn graphics (with exceptions). I'm thinking I'll ditch this project and move on to something more ambitious and less fan oriented. You can see more screenshots here.

Looking back on this whole thing, I'm thinking I could do a hell of a lot better.

I think it's a fair usage of the tileset. Doesn't look too bad, it's even a bit creative.

1. You need better transition between the floor types.
2. The ceiling has this weird line when there's an internal corner...did you draw those walls yourself?
3. Shouldn't the walls extend on the east wall as well?
4. Those cobwebs look crappy.

It'd be nice if done with a better tile set but Yeah....

-No transition
-Inconsistent
-I hate the blocky look.
-Graphics seem almost like a REALLY bad DS game.

A screen from a small haunted house game I'm working on. It's based very very loosely on a really old spectrum game called Atic Atac. I'm mostly interested in feedback for the HUD in the top right. Too complex/simple? Does it need moving?

I agree! It looks pretty cool from what I see, but the screenshot is so very small that I can't really comment in any more detail than that. Looking forward to seeing a slightly bigger shot though! I must admit though I used to have a Spectrum in the day I've not even heard of this game, shocking really.

Next time you post something off of Imageshack, make sure you're not just posting the thumbnail. Luckily their format is laughably simple, I just had to change ".th.png" to ".png".

Your light lines aren't straight. Some of the bookcases are laughably short. Personally, I'd like the zombies to be darker (screen tone), perhaps desaturated (changing the sprite sheet). It'd be nice to see the room even darker, as well. I'd try "adding" for the light instead of just plain overlay, it might look better.

Good concept, fair execution. Just a few points for improvement.

No. VX still looks like someone tried to make a plate of vomit pretty by throwing flowers on it. It's like it's trying REALLY hard to be Final Fantasy 1, but with a full spectrum of colors. Actually, now that I think about it, yeah, it's trying to match the same style as the various Final Fantasy 1 remakes.

This game is absolutely personal. Several years ago I dreamed with 4 characters around a table sharing out the conquest world (and yes, I was the dark elf woman)
One of the best dreams I can remember, I'd tried to write a novel, make a comic and now a game.
I'm not in hurry maybe i'll finish it someday.
But that's the most representative picture about.

The next pictures are from a gift-game. It's about a "real" rpg character of my husband, a young drow lady of the forgotten Realms.
The city is Menzoberranzan and the most part of game happens in Sorcere (the mages school).


(Says something like "be prepared for an adventure of hidden powers, rivalry, danger ..and a story up to no good.")


(The main character says something like "Why don't you kill each other in other place?")

I don't have yet pictures of my last work. I'm still making charas and tiles (don't think i'm an artist, just edit something with Photoshop...).

Nice. You're obviously not someone we have to coach through the basics, like a lot of new blood that comes through here. Does all of the Forgotten Realms game use that graphics style? That's a nice view of the Underdark, although it's a bit strange to have that sliver of empty space on the left side.

Well the grey left side is indeed part of the original picture (Don't remember the illustrator is Todd Lockwood .. not sure).
About the tileset all i've done is change colors of the original rtp. Underdark is not the place you can find wooden furniture in tipical colors, not the grass not anything as we know. I've try to make it a bit diferent, most in purple so this color reminds me of the drow people.
Usually I put more objects in the maps, but I thought drows need self space (for hidding, plotting.. that kind of things that drow do ), and Sorcere had to be impressive for the students.

I like all of your pictures. I see an alive world, full of color

Ugh I've ALWAYS wanted to make a Dark Elf Trilogy game(s). More importantly I've always wanted to make a Dark Elf Trilogy film(s). Keep your eyes open in ~20 years. :Drool:

Anyway I've always thought of the Underdark and Menzoberranzan as being nearly pitch black, since the dark elves use like thermal vision to see, not real lighting. Obviously this would be hard to show in game form, but I think toning down the brightness a fair amount and putting some small bright colored lights (like purple and red and blue maybe) in would make Sorcere look sweet imo.

Blue Barry.. You're all right with the thermal vision, I do need to dark the maps. First I tough to avoid this fact for not overload (the correct word is "overload" or "sucharge"?) the game with so much visual effects... but now that you've mentioned it I think I should try...

By other hand, there are some pictures about another madness of mine...
It has no tittle yet but It doesn't mind.
It's an horror game and story happens actually in time... So I need a lot of modern stuff like Tv's, bathtubes, freezers...
It took me hours searching, editting and drawing , but I think have enough for now to work with...

Would you believe drawing the phone was even harder for me than the oven?

Also, I think your maps are quite well done. Nice work.

What you see here is the path to the Beaumonde cathedral, arching over the city canals. The cathedral itself is mostly the same as Maxy's original design.

Spoiler: Highlight to view

The map really has nine layers: three separate maps of three layers each, layered on top of each other. I haven't actually made the script which will control this behavior yet, but I think it's the only way to achieve sufficiently multi-layered towns, where you have traversable canals and rooftop restaurants, like Maxy's work on Beaumonde.

Here is the same image, but with transparency in three places to show where there is a path on a different layer. My hope is to have the script which I eventually design create this kind of transparency automatically when the player walks under the tiles of another layer.

There are several pieces in here which I added to the screenshot. The fountains are RTP, and are added by events. The water is a pair of transparent autotiles, which I share with you (1 2). There are also isometric city walls, square pattern walls going up stairs, and tiles which conjoin stairs going in different directions. I share with you my personally modified version of Inq's tileset which has these additions.

Sorry for double post Undecided

Progress has been made. I remade the jet pack system so instead of going in / \ like that it's now a smoother curve when you fall. I
also made a particle system that spew out smoke when you use the jet pack.

Kellroe has improved the map and made some new animations.

I like it. The symmetry in the cave is unnatural, though, and the groud outside could use more variation.

Think I'll share with you all the work I've got on Beaumonde. Here is a composite image of all three map layers (3 maps for a total of 9 layers).
