Rawr!

This brings me memories of my first project. It failed miserbly because I didn't have enough experience with RPG Maker back then.

My project recently, has been in development for the past year or so, but I don't really pay much attention to it, so nothing ever gets done. Of course, the project isn't dead just because the userbar on my siggy hasn't changed for the past 2 weeks.

I've been working on Adventure in Idiocy for over four years. I've actually gotten more done in the last month than in the entire time proceeding. Why? 'Cause I finally got the updated version of Blizzard's ABS, which took care of a lot of the bugs I was dealing with. Might actually be able to put a demo out within the next couple of weeks.

There are four truths in life that all must come to terms with:
1. I will die and all that I am will cease to be.
2. I am born alone and will die alone. I can never truly know another.
3. The suffering in my life is my own creation. I create my reality through my choices.
4. ALL meaning is arbitrary and relative. Life is ultimately meaningless.

Working on multiple projects, some of them are based on some game walkthoughs I write. And I mean original. Just so I know what to do next. Some of these might take a year or more months to complete. Depending on demo statuses.

12 friggin projects. Choose one that I should concentrate next. This isn't a top project choice on what I work on, randomly. Dreamwalker are SOLDIER are my main projects most likely.

1. Dreamwalker. (Attatched file contains three main characters, but there are more).

Join Caroline and friend on a long journey though the kingdoms of Kindred, Courtwood and more as she discovers the dreamwalker legacy though Act I to the unknown destination on what the final number act is. Act I of course, might be a full game too, as it splits into many parts. Hope to make it worth while or maybe I'll bore you sleep.

2. The Trek.

Typical every 1000 years a evil rises up story. And Jerik Rand is a orphan who lives with many other orphans in a world full of corruption.

3. Midas Force.

Random plot with a emperior and a rebellion force, blah blah, I don't know.

4. Untitled Prince Project.

Sent away from your kingdom after being attacked by a unknown force, thanks to your father's warning, you are forced to have help from recurited bodyguards, who are not who they seem, and you come to learn why.

5. Dark/Light: Sky Isles of Azimuth. Based on the chronciles of the fight between good and evil, as heroes and villians
clash against to either save or destroy the sky isles.

6. Destiny Unknown. Keep having a stupid charset error that doesn't let me past a scene, hope to fix sometime.
Two men arguring about destiny and such, as one of them is determined to prove his friend wrong on humans being meddling spieces are corrupted, go to a old ruin, to a sacred place and unleash a being that's been asleep for many centuries, and you come to know the full story of his past, and If the path you choice is good or bad.

7. Final Fantasy XIII. (Joke title, but no real title yet, even so there is 13 out anymay, made a edited title for it).

8. Animania Story: Magic Hades Squad. A anime movie game. Your a angel of god sent to inflitrate the demon squad of the underworld, and are soon thrown into what is good and what is evil.

9. Escape! Based on escaping from a prison. Just a side project.

10. Animation Test: Ando and the others are heirs to the throne, who is the right heir to save the lands from a evil dark lord?

11. S.O.L.D.I.E.R: One of my main main projects. And guess what, it's a suikoden clone, legion saga alike.
Without the techinical war battles to do. But maybe I can still do the in the normal battle system fighting of
soldiers one at a time deal.

12. Underlurk: Underdark- A Dark Sci-fi Fantasy. You might see as a D&D Clone. Making you fight only when you gaining low exp at time, for awhile anymore.

13. Divided Dreamers. (One I progressing to write up, but no in rpg maker mode yet).

14. Tier Prophecies. (Same as above). Your a prince whose apparently the obvious plot device: teh chosen one!!111
Hoping to destroyed menace known as "Tryant". That's his name for now.

15. SOLDIER II, a sequel, but not even one connection to the previous game. Funny because I have never showed the first game to you yet.

OH GAWD!, TOO MANY PROJECTS. BRAIN FREEZE. Gasp

Thumbs Up good tons of ideas benos, sry for not checking this out sooner, had some school stuff Sick  ( sometimes I feel like the holidays just ain't enough ), anyway I'm kinda the opposite I usually don't have a bunch of ideas instead I get many small ones and combine them in one or two projects only usually my projects are co-relating but with different plots in the same "world" different times e.t.c since most of my ideas are short I just build off them and sometimes get some impressive write ups.

Then developing takes some time to get into because I have a hard time picking a maker usually between 2k3 where I have most experience or with XP where the capabilities are near limitless and seldom VX when I just want to get a game done nice and easy.

So far I've been digging up some old ideas, editing them, tweaking the plot and now working on an X.P project thats become so imersive I forget about my chores e.t.c which pisses my mom off alot, anyway hope I'll get a demo out too before I over-load it like last time. Sometimes I forget to hold back, you know like close a chapter which is better so I can also take some breaks and summon new ideas e.t.c

... My first game now I remember it was  embarrassing lol but back when I was working on it It seemed like it was going to be the best game I had ever played, the most epic saga! but I over did it, never tested it or anything for most of the time and it was a huge mess, everything had an error of some sort. I got so frustrated with rpg maker but after a while I started it again from scratch, eventually leading me online for some help and I learned alot. Now making games are really easy just need some good time on my hands e.g a year or more if all goes to plan...

Wow seems you guys are hardcore  Confused  guess your games are all really epic! Good to know, I thought I was the only one who takes forever on a project. I also find that most games that are good ( rpg maker games ) are usually X.P ones of 2k3 games the new V.X games are either rushed or not yet complete so it makes sense that it takes a very long time to make a good and satisfying game.

So how about just making a demo? For me that takes around half a year or a bit less. I feel if I just make a quick demo everytime I add something new e.t.c it would spoil the game flow, you know like you reach this really cool area then its like sorry games up wait another 3 months or whatever. Maybe thats just me....

 (Y)  good luck with your project(s) HOUND and the rest of ya! Grin

Well I've been working on "The DOTH Scriptures" (also known as "DREAMER", now known as "Who is the dreamer?") for about 10 years now, so...

>)

The initial plot timeline and original character sketches are from 10 years ago. I didn't start making graphics or coding systems until a few years back. Maybe 3 or 4.

I'm a total perfectionist so everything has to be perfect before I can release something. Luckily I'm a rm2k3 wiz kid since I've been using it, and rm2k (and even rm95 before that) for so long.

I'm rewriting my game's plot AGAIN and am taking the visuals in a whole new direction. I'll be drawing almost everything up myself.. the tiles, characters, portraits (my personal fave), battle animations, and the monsters.

The problem is that this all takes a f**** load of time, which is something I have none of.

Anyway hopefully it'll be done before I die.

I also have another project, "The Syzygial Pilgrimage to the Centre of the Universe" where I'm doing all the graphics Confused but they're NES-styled so it's not as bad. I should show you guys the screenshots! The plot is still in development.

Well I still have project A.D.I.O.L (A day in our life, now it sounds weird even for me)

so far I've been working on it for 2 1/2 years now and only a semi-decent demo has come out.

long way to go.

FUN FACT: I actually joined RPG town for guidance. since I was a noob I had no idea of the conflicts

site history, wars. legend of the philosophers stone. etc...

The project still lives!

Now I remember...

ok so apparently after you beat the game the main player (Sesilou) returns to his original

dimention only to find out a singlr day has passed, although on the other dimention

almost a year went by.... thus being called A day in our life.

gotta love time paradoxes XD

I'd say about 6 years.  Assuming I finish in the next year or so.  All of the custom features have taken so long to program.  I should've just done default everything and spent all of that time concentrating on gameplay and storyline.

Ah so I'm not alone.

I'm still working on a game for now maybe 1 year and its still very very early in post production. Still sketching up characters, monsters and re-editing the plot. ( The story's set but the rest is just in the beginning and its been a year. ) I was a little discouraged since I thought it would have just taken a few months...

Wow 10 years Zatham? Looks like I might take alot of time too since I'm also drawing everything, I'm now getting the hang of hand animation and the fact that my sprites are 5-4 heads tall chibi sized ( resized a little but still noticeably larger than normal sprites ) makes the maps very very large, this is going to take I think another year or more to draw up just the main characters and one or two maps then I have to make it work with mode 7 to achieve my vision for my game. And thats not even getting into the demo yet so I'm guessing its gonna be several years.

I guess to make a full game that you feel is how you want it to be takes a really long time especially if your on your own. Its still worth it no matter what cause its like making something you've always wanted to play yourself.

I'm still stuck on whether to use 3d modeling and animation to help create a 3d rpg game or stick with RPG Maker, which makes me more limited.

This phrase of planning has taken 4 months, and is still not over.

I wish a cookie could give me the answer to my problem. Pirate

 ^_^  thats a hard one:

If you make a 3d game I will always be in awe but the time it would take would increase alot than a normal rpg maker game.

Try maybe making a small prototype games just e.g the first few scenes, play around with some ideas then when your solid you can make a 3d version and repeat. Kinda like rpg makers the testing ground before you take it to the 3rd dimension lol.

I was having a similar problem to make custom hand drawn sprites, maps battle animations and everything or just to edit resources and limit myself. I just did what I explained but getting the real deals going to be tricky.

Well it's not like I'm working on my games every day XD I go through phases where I get a lot of work done, then I get stuck or busy, repeat. I'm working on new portraits for "Who is the Dreamer?" -_- that's another thing is that I keep doing the graphics over and over as I become a better artist.

Cool, you must be a wicked spriter after all those years of experience.

Usually I work alot on my game during holidays or weekends, thats when I get most things done otherwise I just do a few sketches or writing.

I had a hard time with my main characters, they kept changing almost every-time it got frustrating so I forced myself to decide and have the rest as characters who are in game but not necessarily main characters, kinda like playable NPC's or something similar.

Hope its going well, sucks when you work so hard on a project then something happens and its gone like that. If it wasn't for that I guess I might have had something to show for myself but at least you can never lose experience so Its O.K.

Wow really? I'm an active member their also, I'll look for them, any recommended ones you're really proud of or think are most fun?

Right now I'm working on a prototype project, the real one is very experimental as I want to make custom everything so I'm making a smaller project to kinda lay it out as well as see test out a few features I had in mind before going and making the real long fully customized version, its gonna be alot of fun but also alot of work since I intend to sell the finalized one to my friends here but don't worry I'll make it cheap. Just want to get into the indie game making scene even if its small time and I don't make soo much cash it's fun doing something I would love doing for free even.

Hope enterbrain don't sue me ass for some crazy reason but I'm sure its legit as long as you buy a legal licence right? and don't use rtp i'm guessing ( or was that included in the license price? )

Benos, how many games have you made so far?

22, some of them should be at least 2-3 project,s they are ideas, but I have them in projects for rpg maker, I don't why I bother.  Wink I might go on a deletion spree to level down projects that I care not to work on anymore. I still have Midas Force.
