RPG Town Awards

Yes dear friends that time has come again. Well, a bit earlier, but doing it in the summer when more people are free to look at the forum is so much better than during back to school/college, no?

Okay, last year was a rough year as we had a sub-category. That's not happening this year. Also, there will be less categories and no category nomination. There are 10, pre-selected by The Omen (my co-host) and I.

Now, be you familiar or not with the process, it is as follows. First you either post or PM your nominations (all PMs go to me or the Omen, you're wasting your time sending it to anyone else). Things to keep in mind about nomination are that <span style='color:red'>YOU CANNOT NOMINATE YOURSELF!!! </span> Also, you cannot beg for people to nominate or vote for you. Failure to comply with these rules means you're banned from the award lists. Remember, we do like to encourage fair play and such. If someone is pestering you to vote for them, let Omen or I know and we will deal with it.

Now, all that out of the way, let us reveal the categories:
Best Nickname - a nickname you feel is unique, funny, or just plain cool
Best Avatar - your favorite avatar
Best Signature - your favorite sig
Funniest Member - who tickles your funny bone?
Nicest Member - the member you'd never find in hell unless they really are big on irony
Best Thread Maker - the member you feel makes the best threads
Best Graphic Artist - The member who does the best visual art using a computer
Best Hand Artist - The member who does the best visual art using paper and a drawing tool
Best Resource Maker - In honor of the resource section, the member who's resources you always look forward to
Honorary Award - An award for someone you feel really makes the town come alive in their own way

No need to justify why you nominated someone, just let us know who you want in!

I'm not sure to know all the members and therefore I feel pretty unqualified to vote, but it is somehow a disappointement not to see any "game maker" or "music composer" awards, two things that get my interest on this board.

Well not many people around these here parts have made and submitted any games... so we don't really have any way of knowing who the "best" game maker would be. We've got Kamau's "Legion Saga" series but that thing is older that BMZ himself. I wholeheartedly support your "music composer" suggestion, though.

If you know someone has already put someone else down for nomination, don't bother putting them down again.

To those who commented on music composing, first off I wanted to limit the amount of awards to around 10 so we wouldn't be doing this for a month. Second, I consider most of the music on par with resource making, as MP3s and midis can be used in games, no?

I know, but that's more of a site thing than a forum thing. Plus, despite the large number of projects, not that many are complete at this point in time. Next year I'm hoping to have the category for best member game again. If we did it right now you'd probably win with Blades of Heaven.

I fail to see what is so hard about this. You name people you think deserve an award, their names get put into a voting poll, then voting is conducted. Repeating nominations is a waste of time as they only need to be nominated once to get in.

Since it's clear I must clarify, graphic art in this case is non-RM related computer images. Web banners, spreadsheets, the like, even some of our sigs. Of course, best sig and graphic art are seperate as well of course, but you get the idea I hope.

you guys are going about this all wrong, it's too much trouble for people to go look at who was nominated for what, so either make a list or let people nominate the same person more than once even if it doesn't make sense.

Ah, I remember winning the best game award two years back with Confidentus Fabuli. I was surprised to see that it beat the Legion Saga series considering it was only a 20-30 minute long demo.
